Sylvanwood, Trinway and Creston are expected to stay closed where they meet Rochester Road in Troy, one week into a closure the city said would last about three weeks.

The closures began Monday, Oct. 12, so the contractor can finish paving the main road before the construction season ends, according to the City of Troy. Three weeks from the start would put reopening around the beginning of November. The city has not posted an exact date.

Residents can still reach the three streets through neighborhood roads. Only the connections at Rochester Road are closed, and the city is asking drivers to use other routes. Our Oct. 9 story has background on the closures and the cut-through traffic that prompted them.

The work is part of the project widening Rochester Road between Barclay and Trinway. It is paid for with a $22 million federal and MDOT grant and about $5.6 million from the city, according to Troy. The city's construction page says the Rochester Road project continues through spring 2027.

Other Troy projects this week

From the city's construction updates page:

  • Big Beaver Road, Crooks Road to Coolidge Highway: Concrete slab replacement, September through early November.
  • Coolidge Highway, Maple Road to Golfview: Mill-and-overlay repaving, expected to be substantially complete by November, with final restoration next spring. Two-way traffic is maintained with lane shifts, and the city says to expect delays.
  • Stephenson Highway, 500 to 1560 block: Water main relining is scheduled to start this month and be substantially complete by the end of the year. The city says the trenchless method limits digging and surface disruption.
  • Granger Pond: Reshaping to hold more stormwater, through the end of October.
  • Sewer relining at various locations, through the end of November. No digging or pavement removal is involved.
