The Hazel Park Board of Education's October regular meeting, which had been on the district's calendar for Monday, Oct. 19, has been moved to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26.

The district's board meeting dates page lists the Oct. 19 meeting as "postponed" and the Oct. 26 meeting as rescheduled from that date. The meeting is set for the Ford Administration Building, 1620 E. Elza Ave.

A notice on the district's home page, dated Oct. 13, says the regular meeting will now take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 26. It gives no reason for the change.

The Journal's Oct. 19 preview incorrectly reported the meeting as set for that night and noted that no agenda had been posted on the board's BoardBook portal. That story has been corrected. As of Tuesday, BoardBook still listed no Oct. 19 or Oct. 26 meeting.

What's still pending

Several items the Journal has been tracking have not been settled in any public record found so far:

  • A second agreement with The Williams Firm. The agreement, attached in a file whose name includes "Investigation 2," was on the board's Oct. 12 Committee of the Whole agenda. Committee of the Whole meetings are listed separately from regular meetings on the district calendar. The Journal has not confirmed any vote on it. Earlier story on the agreement.
  • Superintendent Amy Wilcox's retirement agreement. The board voted 4-3 on Sept. 28 to accept it, The Detroit News reported. The News reported it would release all claims, ending Wilcox's federal lawsuit against the district and board, once both sides sign it. The Journal has found no public record showing it has been signed or that the lawsuit has been dismissed. The lawsuit's allegations have not been decided by a court.

The Oct. 12 board memo on the Williams Firm agreement is from Griff Mills, the interim superintendent. It recommends the board approve the agreement.

Coming up

The district calendar also lists a community engagement meeting from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Hazel Park High School. After Oct. 26, the board's next meetings are a workshop Nov. 2, a Committee of the Whole meeting Nov. 9 and a regular meeting Nov. 16.
