Corewell Health wants to build an eight-story patient tower at its Beaumont Troy hospital, according to plans reviewed by the Troy Planning Commission.

The plan

According to C&G Newspapers' Troy Times, the project at 44201 Dequindre Road would include:

  • An eight-story tower with 180 private rooms
  • A new emergency room waiting area
  • A five-story parking structure

About $440 million of Corewell's $1.7 billion investment, which also includes work in Grand Rapids, is planned for Troy.

The hospital's emergency department sees more than 106,000 visits a year and runs above 90% capacity, according to the presentation.

Construction would start in summer 2027, with completion targeted for 2030 and opening by 2031.

At City Hall

The Planning Commission reviewed the plans at its Sept. 22 meeting; no vote was reported. Planning Commissioner Jayalakshmi Malalahalli said the project is "definitely going to be an improvement," according to the Troy Times.
