Seaholm outlasts Southfield A&T 49-34 at homecoming

Birmingham Seaholm won a homecoming-night shootout, beating Southfield Arts & Technology 49-34 on Friday, Oct. 2.
Will Forberg scored four touchdowns and Ben Swisher added three for the Maples, according to the Oakland Press. Quarterback Brody Gable threw two touchdown passes.
The game was Seaholm's homecoming, according to the school's calendar.
Back-to-back wins
The victory moved Seaholm to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the OAA Blue.
It came a week after a last-minute win. On Friday, Sept. 25, Gable scored on a 1-yard run with 25 seconds left to give Seaholm a 21-20 win over Oak Park, the Oakland Press reported.
Southfield A&T fell to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the OAA Blue. The Warriors' 34 points were their output in the loss at Seaholm.
A tough test next
Seaholm's next opponent has been rolling. Harper Woods beat Waterford Mott 47-12 on Oct. 2, a week after beating Birmingham Groves 41-13, according to the Oakland Press.
What's next
Seaholm hosts Harper Woods on Friday, Oct. 9. Its Week 8 opponent is to be announced, and the Maples close the regular season at Utica on Friday, Oct. 23. Seaholm needs two more wins to reach six.
Crosstown rival Birmingham Groves, which beat Seaholm 14-13 on Sept. 18, is also 4-2 and 3-1 in the OAA Blue after a 20-18 win over Oak Park on Oct. 2. Groves visits Waterford Mott for the Corsairs' homecoming game on Oct. 9.
Southfield A&T plays all three of its remaining games at home: Oak Park on Oct. 9, West Bloomfield on Friday, Oct. 16, and Chippewa Valley on Oct. 23.
Oak Park, the team Seaholm edged on Sept. 25, is 2-4, with three of its four losses coming by 12 points or fewer, including the 21-20 game at Seaholm.
The MHSAA will reveal playoff pairings on Selection Sunday, Oct. 25, with district games running Oct. 30 through Nov. 7.
