State Senator Moss,
As I research my ballot before mailing it to the clerk's office, two questions keep coming up in my searches:
"My sole reason for running is to make sure America continues to protect Israel."
Editor's note: This line appears to refer to an audio clip that circulated on social media in August. Sen. Moss has publicly called the clip fake and manipulated. The Oakland County Journal has not verified the clip, and the wording above is the writer's, not a confirmed quote from Sen. Moss.
And:
Why has Moss not endorsed El-Sayed?
As someone deeply concerned about the ongoing genocide in Gaza, I believe the United States should completely divest from Israel until the occupation ends and the Palestinian people are free.
I recognize that fighting Trump and supporting Medicare for All are part of your platform—two positions I can support. However, my attempts to contact your office for clarification on your position regarding Israel have seemingly gone unanswered.
I want to know whether these are genuine commitments to helping the American people or whether you are simply using Abdul El-Sayed's talking points to get elected, only to abandon those principles when it comes time to address U.S. funding and support for Israel's actions in Gaza.
This brings me to another concern: your decision not to endorse Abdul El-Sayed.
As an El-Sayed supporter, I believe Democratic unity matters, particularly in a race with such significant implications for Michigan. I am also concerned by the public opposition to El-Sayed from some Jewish leaders. I want to know whether you share their concerns and, more importantly, where you stand on the issues that have made this race so contentious.
Representative Noah Arbit has publicly identified prominent Jewish Democratic leaders, yet your name does not appear on that list. At the same time, you have not publicly endorsed El-Sayed. This leaves me with questions about your position and the reasons behind your silence.
I am asking you directly: Where do you stand on Israel, the occupation of Palestinian territories, and U.S. support for Israel? And why have you not endorsed Abdul El-Sayed?
As an El-Sayed supporter, I cannot cast my vote for a candidate whose position on Israel appears to align with President Trump's while raising questions about whether he is borrowing El-Sayed's policy positions to appeal to voters. I want to know where you truly stand, not simply what you believe voters want to hear.
I am asking for a clear and direct response. These issues matter, and voters deserve to know where their representatives stand before casting their ballots.
Sincerely,
A concerned lifelong Democrat from Royal Oak
