Troy visits Bloomfield Hills, Athens heads to Rochester in Week 7

Troy and Troy Athens both hit the road Friday, with Troy at Bloomfield Hills and Athens at Rochester. Here's what's left for both teams.

Both Troy School District football teams are on the road Friday, Oct. 9. Troy visits Bloomfield Hills, and Troy Athens travels to Rochester. Both games kick off at 7 p.m.

Athens: coming off a big win

Athens, 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the OAA White, beat Bloomfield Hills 49-7 on Oct. 2, according to the Oakland Press. The Red Hawks face a Rochester team that is 3-3 and coming off a 41-14 loss to OAA White champion Stoney Creek. Athens closes the regular season at home Oct. 23 against Berkley.

Troy: still seeking first win

Troy is 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the OAA White. The Colts lost 49-7 to Lake Orion on Oct. 2. Friday's opponent, Bloomfield Hills, is 2-4 and lost to Athens last week. Troy's Week 8 opponent has not been posted; one possibility is a trip to Berkley, which lists "Bloomfield or Troy" for its Oct. 16 Senior Night. Troy hosts Waterford Mott on Oct. 23.

Meanwhile, on the soccer field

Troy's boys soccer team is having a season to remember. The top-ranked Colts, 12-0-2, clinched the OAA Red title outright with a win over Lake Orion on Oct. 6, according to the Oakland Press. District play begins next week.

What's next for football

The regular season ends Oct. 23. The Michigan High School Athletic Association will announce playoff pairings on Selection Sunday, Oct. 25, and district games begin Oct. 30.
