Ferndale beats Royal Oak 25-7 in OAA Gold showdown

Ferndale won its fifth straight game, beating second-place Royal Oak 25-7 on the road in the biggest OAA Gold game of the season.

Ferndale passed its biggest league test of the season Friday night, beating Royal Oak 25-7 at Royal Oak, according to MaxPreps.

The Eagles improved to 6-1 with their fifth straight win. Royal Oak fell to 4-3.

The league race

Ferndale came into the night having already clinched at least a share of the OAA Gold with four straight league shutouts. Royal Oak was the team most likely to stand in the way of an outright title.

MaxPreps lists Royal Oak at 3-2 in league play after Friday's game, in second place. Whether Friday's win gives Ferndale the outright title had not been announced by the league or the school as of Saturday; the Journal will update this story when it is confirmed.

Royal Oak was the first OAA Gold opponent to score on Ferndale this season.

Quarter-by-quarter scoring and individual statistics had not been published as of Saturday.
