Bev's Bagels, known for its organic sourdough bagels, is opening a shop in downtown Birmingham on Wednesday, Oct. 28, Patch reported Thursday.

The new location is at 283 Hamilton Row, near Woodward Avenue and Maple Road, in the space that was formerly Marrow on the Go, according to Patch.

Hours and menu

The shop will open with limited hours at first, then move to a seven-day schedule with hours between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Patch reported. It will offer delivery to Birmingham and nearby communities, and curbside pickup is planned.

Along with its bagels, the Birmingham shop will add veggie-forward and gluten-free items, babkas and cinnamon rolls, plus monthly items sold only at that location, according to Patch.

Background

The business is named after the owner's grandmother. It started as an Ann Arbor pop-up and opened a shop on Grand River Avenue in Detroit's Core City neighborhood last year, Patch reported. A shop in Ann Arbor is also planned.

Chef and owner Max Sussman said in a news release that people stopping by the space while it was being prepared have told him, "We needed a bagel shop here."
